INDUCTION POLICY: All new students will undergo a structured induction program that includes an overview of college policies, procedures, class schedules, and facilities, along with a walking tour of Dublin.
OBJECTIVE: To help students familiarise themselves with the college environment, understand essential policies, and gain confidence navigating both academic and non-academic aspects of college life.

Below you will find details of your full orientation schedule, which includes online and on-campus/face to face. Attendance is essential as you will get lots of important information on your academic program, introduced to new friends and experience the fun side of the College.
New Learner Induction will take place during the first week of your programme (Welcome Week).
Your classes will start ONE (1) week after your Programme/Course Start Date/Induction Week.

DAY 1 (Monday) | Course Start Date (As stated in your Letter of Acceptance) |
09:30 – 12:00 (1-Online) | Learners MUST send an e-mail to induction@liffeycollege.ie to inform us that they have arrived in Ireland. The e-mail should include the following information: the learner’s name, ID number (which can be found at the top of the Letter of Acceptance), address in Ireland, and Irish mobile phone number. Learners will then be contacted by a member of our Team to start the Induction. Please contact us if you do not receive any e-mail from the College (double-check in your spam/junk mail folder). Online Written Placement Test Learners will receive a link to take the Written Placement Test. They will answer a series of multiple-choice questions testing them on their English language skills before being placed in the correct level. The Written Placement Test will be followed by an Oral Test later in the week (by phone, Zoom/other technology, or in person). Induction Tutorial Video Learners will also receive a link to watch a tutorial video explaining everything they need to know about studying at Liffey College, including the online system/student login, the learning platform, the college timetable, college tour, health & safety, fire exits, first aid, LEARNER HANDBOOK, SERVICES, FACILITIES and our POLICIES & PROCEDURES. Application Form Learners will also receive a link to complete the online Application Form. They will be asked to fill in their personal details such as their Irish address and other information, as well as consent to our terms and conditions. |
13:00 – 14:00 (2-Face to Face) | Learners are asked to come to the college before 13:00 on their start date. This is a good opportunity to get any extra clarification and to meet members of our team. After a warm welcome, an academic staff member will conduct an oral assessment to confirm their appropriate level. This will be followed by an in-person induction where all policies and procedures are explained in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. We encourage participants to ask any questions or raise any concerns they may have. |
14:00 – 16:00 (FREE Walking Tour) To give them a true taste of Ireland we organise a walking tour. | Objective: This tour is specially designed to integrate new students into Dublin city life, combining a rich cultural experience with practical information to ensure a smooth transition into their new environment.
Tour Itinerary: 1. Liffey College: The tour begins at the college with a warm welcome and induction, followed by a guided tour of the building and facilities. 2. Harcourt Street: A great example of Georgian Architecture. Understand the historical importance of the building where the college is located. 3. Iveagh Garden: Designed by Ninian Niven in 1865, but with a history dating back to over three hundred years, the Iveagh Gardens are located behind the Liffey College building. 4. St. Stephen’s Green Park: Explore this historic park, while learning about its significance and enjoying the tranquil scenery. 5. Grafton Street: Grafton Street is one of the two principal shopping streets in Dublin city centre — the other being Henry Street. 6. Trinity College: Tour both the interior and exterior of Ireland’s oldest university, renowned for its historic architecture and vibrant student life. 7. O’Connell Street: Discover central Dublin’s main thoroughfare, with stops at notable landmarks including the Garda station, Dublin Bus routes, and the striking Spire. 8. Immigration Office (INIS) : Continue the tour with important information about immigration processes relevant for international students. 9. O’Connell Street : Discover central Dublin’s main thoroughfare, with views to the O´Connell Bridge and the GPO. 10. The Spire: Conclude the tour in one of the most emblematic landmarks of Dublin. Get practical information about services in Dublin as Dublin buses, Luas, Dart and Leap Card, and discover the commercial area of Henry St. Get information about Central Library in ILAC Centre. Educational and Practical Aspects: Cost of Living Discussion: Throughout the tour, discuss the local cost of living, including average prices for food, rent, and other essentials. Shopping Assistance: Offer guidance on purchasing necessary clothing and other items, with stops as needed. Essential Services Overview: Provide essential information about obtaining a Personal Public Service (PPS) number, opening bank accounts at nearby AIB and Bank of Ireland branches, and securing a student card. Local Facilities: Identify key resources such as recruitment agencies and Garda stations to help students familiarise themselves with safety and employment options in the city. |
DAY 2 & 3 (Tuesday & Wednesday) | To make your first week of induction more useful, consider taking advantage of the following opportunities: 1 . CV Preparation and Conversation Classes: Enhance your skills by attending these sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, respectively. 2 . Learner Support Services: We provide support for both academic and personal challenges. 3 . One-on-One Assistance: You can schedule an appointment by speaking with a staff member at the College. |
DAY 3, 4 & 5 (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) | Deadline for completion: Your online Induction must be completed at the latest by Wednesday the same week as your course start date; otherwise your study start date may have to be postponed. Enrolment Documents: After enrolment, you will receive FOUR (4) emails: 1. Letter of Enrolment – Liffey College (Letter Attached) 2. Study Start Date Notification – Liffey College (with information about your classes, including your login details) 3. Final Exam Date Notification – Liffey College (with the confirm date for your final exam – subject to change) 4. Insurance Policies Summary – Certificate of Medical Expenses & Learner Fee Protection Insurance Policy + Summary by Academy Plus Insurance Limited. REGISTRATION WITH IMMIGRATION | Once your induction has been completed & processed, you will receive your Enrolment Documents via emails.
Your Immigration registration/GNIB appointment should be scheduled 1/2 weeks after the start of your classes
and no more than 180 days after your arrival in Ireland.
