Purpose This policy outlines the procedures and guidelines for borrowing books from Liffey College. Its aim is to ensure fair access to resources for all learners and maintain the collection in good condition. | |
Policy Statement 1. Eligibility: All currently enrolled learners and staff members of the College are eligible to borrow books. 2. Borrowing Limits: Learners may borrow a maximum of one book at a time. Staff members may borrow a maximum of one book at a time. 3. Loan Period: The standard loan period for books is three weeks. Renewals are permitted once, provided the book is not on hold for another borrower. Renewals can be requested in person, at the Academic Office. 4. Borrowing Procedure: Borrowers must present their Learner ID number at the Academic Office when borrowing books. The responsible staff member will record the loan details, including the book title, borrower’s name, and due date. 5. Returning Books: Books must be returned to the office during opening hours. Borrowers are responsible for returning books on or before the due date. 6. Late Returns: Repeated or excessive late returns may result in temporary suspension of borrowing privileges. 7. Lost or Damaged Books: Borrowers are responsible for the care of borrowed books. If a book is lost or damaged while on loan, the borrower must pay the replacement cost of the book. This may include processing fees. Damaged books should be returned to the library, even if damaged, for assessment. 8. Recalls: The College reserves the right to recall books before the due date if they are needed for other users or for course reserves. Borrowers will be notified of recalls and must return the books promptly. 9. Policy Updates: This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on the College’s website. 10.
