Apps you absolutely need to have if you live in Dublin!

It is not just when planning your exchange that technology can be used to your advantage. During the study period, there are some applications that are a hand in the wheel for exchange students. Today, here on the blog, we will list the main apps every student must have on their cell phone to facilitate their stay abroad. So set aside a bit of your device’s memory, because you’re going to need it!

#1 Real Time Ireland

The app provides live Luas, bus, train and DART times, helping you plan your journey on the TFI public transport network.

#2 Dublin Bus

The best way to get around the city is by bus. This Dublin Bus app uses GPS to tell you where your nearest bus stop is and what time your next bus comes. It can even tell you how much your fare will cost.

#3 Free Now

If you live any distance from the city centre, and it’s late, bus services won’t be running or will be limited. A limited late bus service (i.e., after midnight till 4 am) only runs on Fridays and Saturdays. It can also be quite difficult to find a taxi in Dublin at the weekend. Free Now is the main taxi app people in Dublin use to find a taxi wherever they are.

#4 AroundMe

The application points out the surrounding establishments, making the exchange student’s life much easier. It shows all the options for restaurants, bars, gas stations, ATMs, cinemas, and more. With this app, the student has no excuse to repeat places.

#5 NOW dublinbikes

Dublinbikes is a self-service bike rental system open to everyone from 14 years of age. It enables you to travel through the city centre, commute between home and work and get out and about to enjoy Dublin city at your leisure. You can enjoy a 3-day pass or an annual one.
