Nothing improves your English language skills like a new vocabulary, so this week we wanted to give you a little treat. Below are some of the most beautiful words in English. Beautiful in their meaning or in the way they sound. Possibly both at times. Use them effectively in your conversations to see how your English gradually becomes more natural.
1 Tranquillity
Why does the “qu” sound, whether it is at the start of a word or in the middle, sound so good to us? With its gentle consonant sounds and combination of long and short vowels, the word “tranquillity,” which means the state of being calm or peaceful, simply sounds peaceful when spoken.
2 Fancy
It could be something elaborate, pricey, or ornamental. Additionally, it can be used to express a desire for something, as in “I quite fancy a beer.” So even though you don’t have a craving for it, it would be satisfying right now. Another way to use it is to express your attraction to or crush on someone. I suppose it goes something like, “I fancy you.” We all want to hear those three short, sweet words!
3. Aurora
It was initially used to refer to the Roman dawn goddess. But be clear: “aurora” is more than just a proper noun. Additionally, it describes the occurrence in which radiation emissions cause a spontaneous display of lights and hues in the sky. (That may even be more lovely than the word itself.)
4. Chill
That word has so many applications! People frequently use the phrase “chill this weekend” to refer to relaxing. Another is to “chill out,” which means to stop taking life so seriously and have fun. A “chilly day” is simply a cold day, and to experience “the chills” is to be sufficiently alarmed to shiver.
5. Felicity
Another lovely word. The meaning of FELICITY is the quality or state of being happy, especially: great happiness.
6. Hope
It is necessary to include any word that can encourage hope that good things will occur, that people will keep hoping for good things, or that a positive outcome will occur. Furthermore, the sound is flawless because it is so solid and complete.
7. Strawberry
These bright scarlet red summer berries have a delicious flavour and gorgeous appearance thanks to their magnificent shape and vivid colour. They even have a heart shape to them! What could be more stunning than that?
8. Sense
That word’s meaning is almost spiritual. “Sense” can refer to an intuitive feeling or an opinion about something. The five senses of the human body—sight, smell, touch, sound, and taste—are also mentioned.
You have it now! 8 of the language’s most lovely English words. What do you think of them? Please let us know if you have heard of others that you believe to belong on the list.
