New Learners (NON-EU - Visa Free Countries)

You do not need a visa to enter. However, you will still go through Border/Immigration Control upon arrival at the Irish airport. Please make sure you have all your required documents with you as you need to present them to the immigration officer.

Financial Proof (Pocket Money Requirement)

Ireland requires English language students to demonstrate sufficient financial resources to ensure they can live comfortably and safely during their stay.

  • Students must show proof of sufficient savings or “pocket money” to cover living costs in Dublin.
  • This is to ensure students have a financial safety net and are not solely dependent on immediate employment.
  • The minimum required amount is €6,665 (subject to official immigration updates).

Valid Passport

  • Must be valid for at least 6 months.

Proof of Sufficient Funds (Financial Requirements)
Acceptable proof includes a recent bank statement from your home country.

  • Bank statements must be printed on official bank letterhead paper.
  • Where original bank statements are not available, internet printouts may be accepted only if every page is notarised/stamped by the bank and accompanied by a letter from the bank confirming authenticity.
  • Handwritten entries or manually altered statements will not be accepted.
  • Cash is not accepted as evidence of financial funds.
  • The following details must be clearly visible:
    • Your full name
    • Your address
    • Account number
    • Account type
  • The same bank statement may also be used for Immigration registration (IRP card).

Letter of Acceptance

  • This letter confirms your course details and that fees have been paid in full.
  • It also includes confirmation of Medical Insurance, Protection for Enrolled Learners (PEL) and Final Examination (TIE).

Accommodation Proof

  • It is recommended that you arrange at least some form of accommodation in Dublin before arrival.
  • If accommodation has been arranged through the College, this must be clearly stated on your Letter of Acceptance.

Important Notice

  • It is essential to keep all original documents and printed copies in your hand luggage during travel.

Learners must email the College at induction@liffeycollege.ie to confirm their arrival in Ireland.

The email must include the following details:

  • Full name of the learner
  • Learner ID number (found at the top of the Acceptance Letter)

New Learner Induction Information

Learners are required to attend the New Learner Induction, which takes place on Monday at 1:00 PM, on the same date as the course start date. Classes will begin the following week.

The induction consists of two parts:

  • Online induction
  • Face-to-face induction

First-Time Registration – Important Guidance

  • Students should not attend their appointment before completing induction and before receiving enrolment and insurance documents from the College, as these are required for registration.
  • Your appointment should be scheduled 2–3 weeks after the start of your classes.
  • The appointment must take place no later than 180 days after your arrival in Ireland.

Required Documents for Registration

You must bring the following documents to your appointment:

  3. Medical Insurance & Learner Protection Certificate
    • Evidence of cover must be provided

Registration Fee

  • A €300 registration fee is payable to obtain your IRP card.
  • Payment can be made by credit or debit card at the Immigration Office.

Important Information

  • During your appointment, Immigration will review your documents and may collect biometric data (such as fingerprints and photograph).
  • If approved, you will be issued an IRP Card (Irish Residence Permit) confirming your permission to stay in Ireland.
  • Most students are granted Stamp 2 permission.

Travel Requirement

  • If you travel outside Ireland, you must carry your passport and IRP card at all times to re-enter the country.

Accommodation

Dublin is a costly city, and accommodation can be one of the main challenges for students. It is important that learners plan and manage their housing arrangements carefully.

Students under Stamp 2 permission are allowed to work part-time in Ireland.
However, most employers may request an IRP card, which can take time to obtain after arrival.

  • In some cases, the IRP process may take 3 weeks or longer.

PPS Number (Personal Public Service Number)

To work in Ireland and pay taxes, you must obtain a PPS Number.

  • Book an appointment to apply for your PPS Number as soon as possible after arrival.
  • It is a tax identification number required for employment.

Students can apply for a discounted travel card (LEAP Card) for public transport in Ireland.

Once your Irish student visa has been approved, you may proceed with your travel arrangements. Please inform the College by email of your visa status and intended travel dates.

Before you travel, please ensure the following:
